There are several ways to make soundposts .I tried a new way for me today . I used a small belt sander that works upside down .ie belt upwards . The belt runs away from me and if you cut square section 6 inch pieces you can alternate which end you hold .Plane off the corners first .The post lies along the belt as you rotate the post. The belt sander method allows instant checks to keep the grain alignment perfect along with thickness checks .
