I am considering the purchase of this book....
The Art of Bow Restoration
By Joseph Regh, library 1st edition, 2010
https://www.violins.ca/books/books_violin_making_restoration.html
It is a pricey investment, so I am wondering... has anyone seen or purchased this book? is it worth the $500? Opinions?
Thanks, Mat |

I do have the Kun & Regh - Bow Making book.
I will say that if I was going to gear up, in a factory-like setting, that he is a great machinist and presents every detail you could possibly want to know in order to gear up and go into business making and selling bows from a machine shop like setting.
In this respect it's (the bow making book) bordering on, really, a work of genius.
Perhaps it's unfair of me to say anything about this Bow Repair book as I haven't seen it.
On the other hand, I'm personally more interested in doing what Ed here is teaching - in regard to making, perhaps it's because of my recent encounter with mortality that I am not interested in much of anything more than slow, easy, methodical handwork.
As I say, the Bow Making book, really is an incredible technical manual - for some young man interested in making bows for a living, it would be a must read.
My guess would be that probably it would be very complete and well presented?
I hope that someone that knows, and that has seen the book, will answer Mat. _________________ Look,

I will add that I thought, and still think, that the Bow Making book - at $335.00 was/is a bargain. _________________ Look,

Being the knowledge/information whore that I am, I've pondered that book and its price.

Well, like I say - if you're interested in making bows in a factory-like setting, this book was written FOR YOU. I do not believe there is another book like it, though, I will admit - I'm not a bow making book collector, so who knows? (one TRUE INFO WHORE to another)
Still, a brilliant book for mechanical methods for bow production, in my opinion. _________________ Look,
