If only one of the two holes for a peg in a pegbox needs to be repaired it needs to be reamed oversize and cleaned to recieve the plug or spiral bushing. How can you ream the hole in one side of a peg box without also doing the otherside... just trying to save as much of the original as possible...

Hi Mat,
Depending on how big the peg hole is, could you use a cello reamer?
If the hole is too small, you might have to open it up a bit with a drill to start the larger reamer.

Personally I would not recommend reaming only one side. I think you will find it VERY difficult to ream the hole without a little wobble, then the plug will not fit perfectly. The second hole helps keep things in line. But I suspect you will find out for yourself how well it works.

Ditto, it will wobble. Could you add a temporary block onto the pegbox wall to give the reamer more support?
