Hi all,

I've been lurking around for a while just reading posts, but I finally joined.

I have not played in nearly 10 years, my parents bought it for me as a gift when I was still playing in school. I recently took it out again (I sounded terrible of course). But I looked at the label, and it is printed as a "Johannes Udalricus Eberle" from Prague from 1791. So I decided to look it up to see what info I could find...but I can't find much of anything on that builder.

Does anyone know anything about this guy? What little info I found seems to indicate that the builder died in 1768, which makes me doubt the authenticity of my violin.

I've tried googling that already and a bunch of other combinations of his name. I'm not finding much info.

Maybe that's all we know about this guy....?
