Hi there, I have a violin that I would like to find more info on. It has two labels: "March H.P Smith" & "March 1898 H.P. Smith Owner Brouner"

It has some curious features that lead some to believe that it is a factory Saxon violin and other folks believe it to be English or American. Here are some details:

-No corner blocks
-two ply maple fingerboard
-small button
-two piece ribs at end pin

I would love to find out if this indeed is a US made fiddle. If anyone can offer info that would be great! Here are some pics:

I checked Luthierlibrary.com without luck, same with maestronet, no luck, just nominal info when you google it.

Interesting old violin.

Here is what I found in the "Encyclopedia of violin makers" by Karel Jalovec:
"Smith H.P. Author of The Construction of the Violin (New York, 1877)"
