Some of you had been interested in seeing Lynn Hannings' classes restored on the west coast.
Ginevra Blake was the program coordinator at the College of the Redwoods, in Eureka CA, over all the Lutherie classes, until the demise of that program. I spoke with her Thursday, (May 22) at Paul Schuback's shop in Portland OR, and she gave me the following contact information for anyone interested in lutherie classes:
Ginevra Blake, (503) 227-1934; ginevrajb@[remove]sbcglobal.net (remember to take out the [remove])
She and Paul Schuback (I think) are beginning a joint venture this Fall, hoping to offer violinmaking, set-up, bow-making, bow repair, rehair, perhaps other things. I believe Lynn will be teaching the bow classes, but I don't know whether Boyd Paulsen will still be teaching the violinmaking classes...they may persuade him, but he has moved to NM, and it is a long trip. There could be a good deal more to it all than I am aware of, as I had a pretty short conversation with Ginevra. I assume the classes will be in Portland, OR.
At any rate, she encouraged anyone interested to either call or e-mail her for further information. I probably cannot answer many questions, as I have just told you all I know.

I have just made arrangements to have Lynn come and teach her bow making class at the Southern California Violin Maker's Workshop in June 2009
She will be coming for two weeks to the Claremont California (30 miles east of Los Angeles) to Join Michael Darnton in his 4 week making workshop and Russell Wagner of Chicago Cello Works who will teach 2 weeks of restoration and repair.
Lynn will be here June 1 - Jun 5, 2009 and June 8 - June 12.

Cant' believe this is still here. Anyway, the new link is www.scvmw.com
This year George Rubino is teaching Frog making in the French Tradition. Lynn will be back next year and then the two will alternate years.
