This topic is a kind of confession .Something I should have known for many years had escaped me .The difference between a 4/4 full size violin and a 3/4 violin boils down to the string length ,nut to bridge. I had shortened the neck on a 4/4 violin by one inch to make my fourth finger happy .
A 3/4 violin has the same length string but a smaller body .So I sent for an ebay 3/4 this week .Made in Luby in Czechoslovakia as it was then known .I will soon find out if that works for me physically . Disregarding the tone or volume it`s something I needed to do .Also it might be interesting to see what Luby made violins are like .The whole town of Luby made violins .It was their version of Cremona . |
