Hi everyone
I am new to this forum, and want to ask everyone's opinion about a electric violin that I am wanting to purchase.
I have absolutely no knowledge of violin, but I fell in love with it after attending a event that my friend (who played 14 years) was playing violin in. She agreed to teach/tutor me if I get my own violin and sign up for some lessons, so I have been looking up information online.
Because of lessons costs, my budget for a violin is not high, and I want to get a electric violin for practice (I live in small 1bd apartment). However, I have read some discussion about posture problem when using a skeleton style electric violin.
I will eventually get a acoustic violin if my skill is good enough not to torture my neighbors, but for right now I want to get a electric violin.
I have looked up Bijing violine, which is available on Ebay. Reivews are mixed, but look at most of the work people had to do to make it a "good" violin, I don't think it's worth the money.
I am also looking at Harley Benton (http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hbv400wh_evioline.htm?partner_id=25293) violins, but I have to buy it from UK and ship it to US...
Yamaha ones look very nice, but the price is over my current budget:(
Does anyone know any good* for beginner electric violin that are within $300 ?? or it's not a realistic budget for an electric violin?
Thanks, |

I would be very reluctant to buy on Ebay... Those violins are seldom properly set up ready for play. ... then you will need to enlist the services of a luthier to fix the problems and properly set up the instrument for play...and if you did not buy from the luthier, they won't do it for nothing!
Depending on where you are, you should be able to find a luthier who carries an student level accoustic insrument for under $300.
Good luck! Mat |
