Colin Mezin pere violin – father of the dynasty (born 1841 died 1923)
Charles Jean-Baptiste Collin-Mezin (Père) (1841-1923) was a celebrated Parisian violin maker. He was awarded medals in the Paris Exhibitions of 1878, 1889 and 1900 and was elected an Officier de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts. His best work is generally from the years 1880 to 1900. We appreciate his late 19th Century instruments for their handsome materials and varnish, precise workmanship, and their full, brilliant sound quality.
My violin is a prime example of a rare 7/8 model made by Colin Mezin pere and was made and signed by him in 1922, on the inside lower bout, one year before his death.

Photos don't come up, but utube performance sounds like a nice fiddle. _________________ Dave in the Blue Ridge
