It's been exactly one year since I had that "ill fated" stroke.
There have been many changes in my life because of it.
The change to this venue (The Violin Forum), I must say, is one change (of many) that I'm extremely happy that I made.

Thanks guys.
As I say, I'm happy to be posting here, and am very happy to see my freinds of many years, spouting off (guf-faw!) here also.
I like having MORE THAN just MY Grande Boca yacking it up...

Preferably, it should be "mi Gran Boca" or "mi Boca Grande". |

Yep, seems like just yesterday (1965) I was playing my guitar at the high school dances --- blinked, and now? Fighting and resisting being "crotchety" --- mostly succesful.
Was talking to a guy in his 90's the other day. Asked how old I was. 66. Called me a kid.

Craig Chet Glad to hear that you are doing ok after a year it`s a long road back .
I had a hip Re Placement & did not go well 4 major infections 4 sugary
3 joints & still have a temporary joint that will have to be replaced
We escaped the GRIM REEPER must have been the ROSIN dust that saved us so you know making a fiddle with a few flaws is not the worst thing that can go wrong as the years go by Ken |

Craig....frankly....I noticed the forum start to pick up since you've joined. Saying it another way, I think your openness
opened us up...made us all relax a bit. I don't know if this is only my perception. So I'm very glad you have been pulling
off your "Grande Boca", "Yacking", "Big Mouth",... or whatever you want to call yourself. It is one of those rare moments to see
these terms used in a positive way.
It's also good to hear that you've recovered well and continue to make instruments and bows. Keep it up! |

Sounds like you've been through the mill (and I mean literally, THE MILL!)
If I might take a slight side road here...
We all get older and require a few additional nuts and bolts as the time flies by - that's for sure. And, the process of getting them, can be one hellova mean sob.
Personally, as I get older, and closer to the "violin case closing for good", which, as we all know, it will eventually do... the more I am convinced that the trials in life (and - I can tell you some stories about trials in life) only really make us stronger - when we go through them and simply deal with them face to face.
Sounds a bit odd, I know - that what will eventually "close your case for good" will also make you stronger.
But there is only so much one can deal with, before one either quits, and becomes closed down, or bitter, or perhaps just becomes quiet and gives up to an unfortunate degree,
ether that, or, they realize that nothing physical will ever really stop them, or their interests - or perhaps, will never even be allowed to slow them down.
...and so, I have seen people I admire, get older and get stronger as they get older and more nut & bolt ridden...
I think I can see a bit, the path you're traveling down. (been there, done that)
And to tell you the truth, brother, I can only admire the personality I see, that's dealing with such things and not becoming, hmmm, how to put it?
Not becoming the effect of the process, and obviously, not becoming bitter - but joking about it.
Good luck with the surgery you still have in front of you.
You tell me if I'm barking up the wrong tree, and I'll shut up - alright?

We all know what a really tight fisted, monopolistic, power mad, boca infinitus personality I have, and have to deal with on a daily basis.

One great year CTviolin!!!
My Mom had a stroke.
She was on a OrthoMolecular approach to healing that helped.
You may find reading up on Linus Pauling to be helpful.
The brain is amazing at healing and getting the job done in new ways, given the right conditions. |
