I am repairing and setting up and old "Marquis De L'air" violin.
The body length is only 13.5/8 inches, ( 34.6cms ).
Is there a standard string, and after string length for a violin
of this size? If not, what would you recommend? |

That might be around 7/8 size. The mensure is perhaps more important than the body length. What's the distance between the nut and the bridge? _________________ Doug Wall

The stop length is 193mms. Also I just noticed the Bass Bar is at least 19mms high at the bridge. Strange violin. I believe you are right, it is a
bit closer to a 7/8 violin than a 4/4. |

This is why I requested the measurements. Strobel lists the string length for a 4/4 (nut to top of bridge) at 330 mm. He lists the distance from the top edge to the bridge center at 195 mm. It appears that you're actually pretty close to full 4/4 size for the playing length. _________________ Doug Wall
