Hello,
By way of introduction, I would like to share with you this short video about my family tradition :

Thanks for the video. I love hand made rasps. I knew how they are made, but never saw it done until your video.
I think you would appreciate this. It is a 100-year old jeweler's saw/fret saw blade, and is about 1mm high, 0.5mm thick. I have never used a better blade for cutting violin f-holes.
I'm sure a machine made it, but you will recognize how. When I saw how it was made, I tried to make one from a flattened piece of soft iron wire, just to see if I could. I didn't get far before I cut the wire. :-) (two photos below)

What a wonderful tool... and a lucky owner 
But the best part is truly your attempt to reproduce it !
I have trained already quite some hand-stitchers for rasps.
At the begining, when they come to me after sweating a couple of hours hand-stitching a cabinet rasp, with pride and anxiety in their eyes, it is always difficult to throw the rasp in the pile of scrap. But after 12 to 18 months of hard work and daily inconclusive attempts, they all eventually succeeded in becoming one of our companions.
