I read somewhere that thicknessing to the density of the wood is one of the tricks of getting a better tone.
In other words, arch the top, plane down to within a few mm and plane to match the translucence of the thinnest area and adjust for final thickness.
Any comments on this? |

I think it'd be kind of interesting to see a cladny plate experiment done. See what pattern a top produces thicknessed evenly compared to density.
the violins been around for centuries I'm sure the experiments been done I just don't know where to find the results. |
