When a violin is tuned , the strings are pulling and putting twisting forces on the maple wood. Are those forces changing the shape of the bridge ? We all know how strings can bend a bridge towards the fingerboard .What about the sideways twist caused by altering tensions as you tune? Is a thicker top on a bridge less likely to get out of shape (not enough to notice visually )? Or is a thinner top going to work better because it`s more flexible ? Will all that be smoothed out at the bridge waist ?
Are these features judged when bridges are compared in a competition .?

The sideways twisting forces from tuning are negligible, and a well-cut maple bridge elastically returns to shape rather than permanently twisting. Bridge thickness mainly affects stiffness and tone, not twist resistance, and this isn’t evaluated in bridge-making competitions.
