I’d like to start on a bass. On a very tight budget, and am looking for wood for the top. Will pay cash if reasonable, but prefer to trade.
I have some hand split Sitka spruce violin or viola sets. Almost 20 years air dried. Also have lots of black willow splits for blocks and lining. Some large enough for cello. Have 1 Abetefiemme Ciresa Italy 2000 II quality spruce top set, and 2 8430 European spruce tops from International violin, plus 1 nice Engelmann spruce top. Also 2 8030 European maple back sets with sides and 1 8260 neck block.
Would trade some or all for the right bass top set. I’ll pay shipping costs both ways.
I would prefer a 2 piece Engelmann spruce, European, or Sitka spruce. Even Douglass fir, if nicely quartered. Would consider a 4 piece set, or 3 or 4 1 3/4†thick clear, vertical grain boards that can be somewhat matching when glued up.
The finished top will be 42†(1067mm) x 24 5/8†(635mm) x 1 3/4†(45mm)
