|
|
Hello, my first post here.
Has anyone had experience with rosewood fingerboards for double bass?
I wonder if there is a difference in sound quality if not ebony. I'm building a 1/4 scale bass, and have at the moment only rosewood.
Thanks,

Thanks. That's what I wanted to hear, and since I've already dimensioned the rosewood I wont worry about the dust.

Curiosity rising to the bait: Why a 1/4 scale bass? I'm not sure I have ever even seen one. Is it for a child of your acquaintance, or "just because"? _________________ Chet Bishop

Because I play and make cellos, I feel that a full size bass would be too difficult for me to play, and beyond my time and ability to build. Another reason is about 20 years ago I saw this 3-string bass at the Met in NYC, and was captivated by its graceful outline.

Also have a 12 year old grandson who is playing bass, so someday he can have it.
