It`s been quiet here with no one needing help Here`s a ?
A fellow has a fiddle that he said he never had to re tune it when he took it out of the case to play if he did it was very little .Now it is out a lot like three four turns on the fine tuners all strings . he heats with wood & he has a humidifier in his case . Old strings? Tail cord ? someone said it had a loose sound post, it could have moved ? what is your thought on This use it
to light the stove maybe . Ken... Matt easy now !!!!

if he kept tension on it , the soundpost would not move, but any of the other reasons, take a look at it, temp and humidity could be, wood heat is very dry.

I'd check the height of the fingerboard, if projection is 27mm then end of FB should be about 20mm. If its dropping something structural may be going on.

I think Dave's got it right.... maybe loose seams, loose neck or loose fingerboard. Old strings stretch less than new ones ... they just break so that is not likely. If all strings are doing the same thing equally, I would doubt that it is slipping pegs... but might be.
His best solution is to bring it to an expert Luthier... I think there is one in Moncton.. goes by the name of Old Goat ... He'll be able to "shine" some light on it! Very Happy

Hello Mat the lad found the old Goat Luthier & he found a loose sound post he put in a new post problem solved & fiddle sound great .
He was a bit scared the old goat may eat the fiddle or the bow but
the old goat had a big feed of East Coast Poutine râpée & he was not hungry saved the fiddle Ken
