I need to blacken a pearwood fingerboard and am curious to know how others do this? For ebony boards I use India ink to blacken then mineral oil over that. It seems like with the density difference between pear and ebony that maybe I should use something other than mineral oil. What do others use on ebony boards and any ideas for the pearwood?

Ever try Feibing's leather dye? Works pretty well, but you will want to rub it down quite thoroughly afterward, to make sure no customer is going to end up with black fingers.
