Yes, when I got my first job, my friend and I (back in So. Cal.) shared a house ($) and each of us had pet (Colombian) Boa Constrictors...

Mine grew from a baby snake - to about 7 feet, and his was even larger. We used to let them hang in the living room, when they wern't in their cages. Just for the fun of it.

Then one day, about a year after I had gotten a wild "California King" (snake) I discovered that he had gotten hungry and had tried to eat the boa. They did share a cage after all. And, I did learn not to put a snake and a snake eating snake together!

Ahh, those were the days!

This is a link on my website. I'm lucky to know that art teacher. She teaches kids with sight impairment (some to the point of being totally blind).

Jacob:

I laughed looking at all those cut offs on your website.

I have a box under my bench that is jam packed with them. Every time I'm working on a new instrument I put all the plate and neck cut offs in the box, reasoning that if I need a repair along the way, sourcing it from identical wood would be best... and then never throw them out!

Perfectly understandable.

Unfortunately, I just went through a *cleaning bug* where I went through the inside shop, and the outside shop (where most of my 20 year long scrap pile was) and trashed EVERYTHINHG that wasn't absolutely necessary.

for me, it was worth it, as I now have room to breath when in the shop.

I must admit though, it was sort of like getting rid of a "beloved family member..." or, something of the sort.

Several weeks ago I did the same thing. Threw away about half of the scrap from 20 violins. Hauling it out to the street, I did pick out a few pieces to save. Just couldn't part with some of it.

Not only violin scrap, but from all my other wood working projects. Never know when you'll need a piece just that size.

And now, as I write, my wife is trying to clean out our garage, and a little upset with me, as I have every piece of wood from my old piano that I took apart. I built a violin almost entirely from that piano wood. Saving the rest. Want to use the tuning pins for a hammered dulcimer, and the rest of the wood for ....

Poor woman --- has to live with an "artist".
