I've been away from the forum for a while, so jumping in here after scanning comments. My only observation, how to measure progress on graduating if the box is already closed. |

Sounds like a good outcome. I personally think a heavy back has less affect than a heavy belly. Fortunately, you don't have to hold a cello under then chin, so a thick back is of less consequence. ... |

Gelled glue may leave a strong bond, but also leaves a visible seam line.
A well glued, (well flattened) center joined plate - will NEVER show a glue line.

What I consider a strong bond, is where the break follows a weaker grain line, not just evidence of some fibers. Not familiar with basswood though.
